Title: Dirty encoder strips on Access Prober
Post by: admin on December 18, 2009, 07:31:22 AM
Hello all,
We recently had an Access Prober customer report that their prober was having issues making accurate moves in the X direction. He described that the position was drifting when repeated back and forth moves were made. We at Huntron were scratching our heads on this one until the customer discovered the problem. Some recent construction in an area near the prober had caused excessive dust to collect on the X axis encoder strip therefore making it difficult to the laser encoder read X position. He cleaned the strip and all is well. If you clean the encoder strips, be sure to use a non abrasive material and be careful. There is an LED on the encoder that shows green if it is reading the strip properly. It will show red if there are problems seeing the strip.
Comments and questions are welcome.
Thanks!
