Hi
What version of ProTrack have you got there?
KJ2 OR KJ3 ?
You only get this message when connected to the ProTrack Scanner?
And when you have the Scanner connected and go into Menu / Scanner are you able to connect to individual pins through the 64-way IDC connector on the Scanner?
If you have a KJ2 version of ProTrack reprogramming the Flash Prom on the ProTrack main circuit board may help your problem.
I'm sure Curtis (Huntron Tech support) would be able to email you the program if you just give him your ProTracks serial number.
I have mentioned this on the Forum, there is  a cheap  Chinese import that does the job.
If you have a KJ3 U.S. Navy version of a ProTrack from EBay I'm not sure what support you might get.
Try changing the RJ45 cable between the Scanner and ProTrack.

Hi!

Are you using RJ45 communication cable type 1:1 (straight cable)?
No other type can be used!

Sorry for delay in response, I turned it off and then on problem went away.

The unit is connected to a scanner with 3 coaxial wires and a rj45.

Same old problem then, when the PC hangs switch off and start again!
But interested with Fetrons comment "Are you using RJ45 communication cable type 1:1 (straight cable)?
No other type can be used!".
I have used both types of RJ45 cable and not noticed any problems.
But not tested it to destruction on Huntron ProTrack Diagnostics.
Would be interested to hear what Curtis / Huntron Tech support engineer has to say on this.

Wish the above problem solution was as easy with my Agilent 34410A DMM not communicating with Workstaton, but that's another problem to put on the Forum!

The RJ45 cable is a straight through cable, pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2, etc...

Hi Fetron
Which one of the RJ45 type cables are you referring to?
The flat cable or round cable shown on attached photos.
I have had both types working on my ProTrack.
As Curtis says they are wired pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2 etc.

Dear James!

See the picture for the cable with a straight trough.

The cable that is not straight is called the crossover cable. its use is to connect computer to computer without a switch in between or device to same device.....

This is true! Looking at that drawing, pin 1 goes to pin 8.

The correct ProTrack Scanner RJ45 cable will have the same wire color order when viewed left to right with the connectors side by side.
