Title: ProTrack fault.
Post by: jvthorsley on December 31, 2019, 02:56:23 AM
Recently had an intermittent fault on my ProTrack.
The CRT screen would go blank, and the LCD would freeze with odd characters.
Found the problem to be caused by by an old fault previously documented on the this forum caused by the electrolytic capacitors near the PSU leaking corrosive substance on the copper track, and in the process making some copper track O/C.
Removed J10 on the main PCB and found burn marks / shorts between pin 5 & 6.
Pins 4 & 5 are ground, and pin 6 the supply from the PSU to the - 12 V.D.C. regulator on the main board.
Replaced J10 & cleaned circuit board, powered up, no further problems.

Was it the two e-caps to the left in the image that were the original cause?
Good work!

Hi Curtis
Yes it was the two Electrolytic Caps on the left I replaced, plus all the other Electrolytic Caps.
