Title: tracker 1005B
Post by: David cordero on September 23, 2019, 10:44:27 PM
Hi, I have a 10058 tracker, I see that on the low scale the line is normally inclined, is it like this or is it broken? I took it apart and exchanged resistors R5 and R6 and the line is now completely horizontal but then I saw pictures of others and I see that they come out with the inclined line.

Have to excuse my ignorance on this, but is this a Tracker that came out before or after the Tracker 1000.
I think the trace on the Tracker 1000 was at 45 deg. Whereas the Tracker 2000, and onward's up to the 3200S has a 90 deg trace. Must have been very difficult looking at a diode junction that started at an angle of 45 degs on the low or any range.

Hello friend, I did not know that the correct state was 45 degrees in open circuit for me I was broken because the other tracker that I have is a 2000 and its low state in open is of a horizontal line and modify this by changing resistances and octave the alignment, I'll leave it like that because it's coom says it should be awkward to try a diode at 45 degrees.

I will confirm James' response. The early Trackers up to the Tracker 1000 do indeed have a 45 degree open trace in the LOW range.

Hello curtis, and have the tracker give me a Horizontal line in the low range, in what could this affect the operation of the low range?

Hi David
If your modification to your Tracker 1000 works, that is you get a right angled trace when looking at a diode on the low range.
Try it on some Zener diodes of various voltages and see if it is still in reasonable calibration on the various voltage ranges.
Could be you have found a good upgrade modification on the Tracker 1000, and  you should tell other users what to do!
Maybe even get it a USB port, and getting it working on Windows 10!!!!!!!!!!

Hi James, if all works well, the only thing is that I believe that the measurement range has been shortened because at rest as it is factory 45 degrees to 180 degrees is wider than now, because now we only have a margin of 90 degrees, before we had 45 extra degrees that are now level at 90 degrees by a resistor, but I have already worked with it and it works very well in terms of a USB port because we only have to buy a USB oscilloscope of those 60 dollars and connect their inputs to the plotter in the XY deflection area and there the USB oscilloscope will work as a curve transducer, and thus save all tracker measurements.
