Title: ProTrack I model 20 problem
Post by: Paula Silva on June 15, 2025, 10:41:18 AM
Hi all, and greetings from Portugal.

I have a "small" problem with my ProTrack I model 20: Since his probes and my multimeter's probes are absolutely equal, I have done one of biggest mistakes on my workbench: sent 220V AC inside its channel A, and now it shows a vertical line. Fortunately I still have channel B working, but the "SCAN" function is not working anymore on both channels, although the "ALT" and the "A+B" functions are working fine.

My ProTrack's serial number is KJ3-01733 and it has (obviously) the KJ3 firmware.

Any help from anyone?

Thanks in advance.

There are relays and range resistors that get damaged when a strong voltage is accidentally applied. Do a visual inspection to see if there are burned traces or components.

Thanks for the tip, CWSmith, I've checked them all, replaced some resistors and a reed relay but it hasn't improved anything. It feels like the current inrush reached one of the analog/digital IC's, that's why I'm asking for more help...

your main board is damaged. if you are in a hurry, purchase one of those non functioning Protracks on ebay. and replace the board. move the flash over. main board on those units should be good. and then you can repair your existing board for spare.

Hi Paula
Not sure this will help.
But I guess anything could happen after connecting a ProTrack to a mains supply.
I did a few years back accidently plugged my ProTrack Scanner into a 12 V.D.C adaptor, should be 5 V.D.C.
I put all the details of how I repaired my Scanner on this Forum back on 25th October 2019.
The ProTrack has some isolated D.C. supplies, might be worth checking them.
