A DMM may not show an inductive change because it is a DC signal unlike a Tracker. The signatures pretty much point to a faulty transformer. Last step may be looking at it out of circuit.

Thank you for your reply. I tried to respond sooner, but had trouble signing in , my fault
I replaced the pictures with better ones.
There is nothing connected to the secondary from the rest of the board. I removed the rectifier bridge that transformer feeds voltage to.

On yhe primary side, which all the signatures match between the good and the bad board, are 2 zero ohms resister seen in the last picture posted. Resistors, connect to fuse and then a choke and incoming. There is no continuity between secondary and primary of the transfer.
What's interesting is when measuring resistance between the two pens of the secondary, both good and bad board match. it's the same on the primary side, they match. Measurment instrument agilent 34010A.
The only instruments that shows a difference in power off mode testing is my huntron.
Have not done hipot test yet. For that I have to desolder I think.
Nor, have I done any power up measurement yet. Feeding the transformer and measuring the output.
may be a hipot test next.

The faulty board signature is showing a lower impedance suggesting that there is a short somewhere possibly the transformer it self. What else is connected to that circuit?

this may not be the correct place to post this. I am sure someone will let me know.
I have a board that I am working on. using tracker, found a shorted diode in series with a relay.
replace it. but there is more problems.
it looks like a transformer on the board has very different signature than the reference board transformer.
see pictures with notes.
I removed the bridge thinking problem was the bridge.
I would appreciate to hear other thoughts on this subject.
I am not familiar with transformer signatures and usually they are either out or good. this one has the output Voltage

Hi Paula
Not sure this will help.
But I guess anything could happen after connecting a ProTrack to a mains supply.
I did a few years back accidently plugged my ProTrack Scanner into a 12 V.D.C adaptor, should be 5 V.D.C.
I put all the details of how I repaired my Scanner on this Forum back on 25th October 2019.
The ProTrack has some isolated D.C. supplies, might be worth checking them.

your main board is damaged. if you are in a hurry, purchase one of those non functioning Protracks on ebay. and replace the board. move the flash over. main board on those units should be good. and then you can repair your existing board for spare.

Thanks for the tip, CWSmith, I've checked them all, replaced some resistors and a reed relay but it hasn't improved anything. It feels like the current inrush reached one of the analog/digital IC's, that's why I'm asking for more help...

There are relays and range resistors that get damaged when a strong voltage is accidentally applied. Do a visual inspection to see if there are burned traces or components.

Out of Production Hardware / ProTrack I model 20 problem
Last post by Paula Silva - June 15, 2025, 10:41:18 AM
Hi all, and greetings from Portugal.

I have a "small" problem with my ProTrack I model 20: Since his probes and my multimeter's probes are absolutely equal, I have done one of biggest mistakes on my workbench: sent 220V AC inside its channel A, and now it shows a vertical line. Fortunately I still have channel B working, but the "SCAN" function is not working anymore on both channels, although the "ALT" and the "A+B" functions are working fine.

My ProTrack's serial number is KJ3-01733 and it has (obviously) the KJ3 firmware.

Any help from anyone?

Thanks in advance.
